The Assembly passed AB69 on Tuesday by a vote of 85-13. The bill goes by the name of Right to Try and allows terminally ill patients the opportunity to try any and all avenues to heal themselves after they have exhausted all traditional treatment options, even if they final cures haven't been approved by the FDA.
In other words it gives hope to someone and their family who is facing death. As Rep. Joel Kleefisch said during debate talking about his father-in-law, they would have done anything and everything to prolong his life. One has to question why anyone would vote no on hope.
The 13 no votes was buoyed by a contingent of Milwaukee Democrats. Has the Progressive Left pressured Reps. Fred Kessler, JoCasta Zamarippa, David Bowen, Jason Fields, Jonathan Brostoff, David Crowley, Daniel Reimer, and Evan Goyke to choose certain death for their terminally ill constituents rather than voting with Republicans and offering a glimmer of hope?
Republicans voted en mass to support this bill and were joined by Milwaukee Democrats Leon Young, Christine Sinicki, and Josh Zepnick.
