Will Alderman Stamper Abstain?
I do have a question for him. The common council allows alderman to abstain from a vote without giving a reason for their decision. When Alderman Stamper was a County Supervisor he sponsored a resolution that forced Supervisors to give a reason if they choose to abstain from voting on an action.
He's quoted in this article from Urban Milwaukee saying, "If you’re not going to vote, then you should provide a reason."
Will the new guy stand on principle and propose a similar resolution for the Milwaukee Common Council or will he back down from his convictions as a Supervisor and prove his move was nothing more then a political play toward another Supervisor.
My bet - he lets it die.
