Democratic Diversity

I was once told by a black democrat that Milwaukee county meetings were mostly a white event.  I was really surprised by this revelation as the impression an outsider gets is that the party is totally integrated in everything it does.

Well this past weekend was the Democratic Founders Day Event and it's quite clear that from this screen grab that the founders were very well represented.

Hey Sam, I'm making a mockery of your absurd diversity argument over at kilkenny's blog. Come on over and join in the fun!

“I was once told by a black democrat that Milwaukee county meetings were mostly a white event”

An anonymous black democrat tells an anonymous blogger that county meetings are mostly white. Okay. I have no way of knowing whether that’s the case or not, I’ve never attended one of the meetings (apparently, neither have you), and considering the meetings take place at 9:30 am on a workday morning, it’s highly unlikely you or I will be attending one anytime soon.

I got news for you Sam, there ain’t no “the party” in the County Board:

“The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors is a body of 18 legislative representatives who are elected to four-year terms on a nonpartisan ballot …”

So, how does one draw a connection between a non-partisan Milwaukee county board meeting and a State Democratic Party fundraising dinner? Fock if I know.

Mr or Miss or Mrs Anonymous, it seems there is some confusion as to what I was writing about and I'll clear that up.

When I mentioned Milwaukee County meetings I was not talking about the Milwaukee County Board, but meetings of the Milwaukee County Democratic Party.

You'll need to excuse me for not being specific enough though it seems that others who've read this blog post were not confused by the context.

I still stand by the premise originally stated. Thanks for stopping by.

The sign logo says DPW (Democratic Party of Wisconisn).

How can or do you verify this event happened in Milwaukee? If it was held in Milwauke, then it should be more representative. But I suspect it is not. Can you offer more info please.

Thanks.

Sam, for a couple to attend the dinner they'd have to spring for at least $500. Considering that blacks are the poorest demographic among us, is it really that difficult to understand why there are few if any in attendance?

Think about it.
