As word comes that "GOP Sen. Rich Zipperer has scheduled a public hearing Monday for both the Assembly and Schultz-Jauch versions of the iron mining bill an attempt to keep the legislation alive." I got to thinking about the previous attempt to pass the mining bill and how the word compromise was used.
If I understand the story correctly. the Assembly bill was presented to the Senate.
Senators Dale Schultz and Bob Jauch come up with their own bill.
The Joint Finance Committee makes changes to the original bill. Sen. Schultz and the Democrat Senators don't budge.
Result: Republicans are accused of not compromising.
If I understand the idea of compromise, both sides give up something to reach a consensus.
