How About a Thank You instead of an Apology
Got to thinking about the afternoon beer party and I was wondering did Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr thank Lucia Whalen for caring enough about protecting the neighborhood to call the police?
A teachable moment could be in the making if he did. Neighborhood watch is a good thing.

Israel not gonna take it
Obama's mandates that is.
Anti-Obama Rally in Jerusalem
A great quote.
"Yes to Israeli Independence, No to American Dictates!"
Seems to be a growing consensus lately, even here.

Video Hypocrisy
From the Wausau Daily Herald.
The office of state Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker called the Wausau Daily Herald last week to schedule a visit with our Editorial Board to discuss the state budget and other legislative priorities.
We said we'd be happy to meet with him and to let him speak directly with his constituents by live-streaming video of the meeting on our Web site.
Not so fast, his office said.
Decker doesn't do video.
Why? Why would the Senate majority leader -- who routinely appears on television, is interviewed on radio programs and speaks on the Senate floor before cameras -- balk at live video?
Well, his office explained, Decker is afraid some rascally blogger or special interest group out there would grab the video and use it to make fun of the esteemed lawmaker.
Will the lefty bloggers get after Sen Decker the way the pounced on former Sen Tom Reynolds for not wanting to "do video."

Will No Quarter report on this?
I doubt it. The article by the Wausau Daily News could be very telling about the new media and politics.

Tosa Council says no to ID
After a 7-7 vote that was broken by Mayor Jill Didier, the council decided not to take any action on the issue. Instead, they're leaving it to their constituents to determine if they feel strongly enough about the issue to initiate a referendum.
The voting line:
For a referendum: Aldermen Cheryl Berdan, Don Birschel, Robert Dennik, Brian Ewerdt, Tim Hanson, Thomas Herzog and Jacqueline Jay
Against a referendum: Aldermen Peter Donegan, James Krol, Dennis McBride, Eric Meaux, Linda Nikcevich, Jerry Stepaniak and Michael Walsh, and Mayor Jill Dider
Absent: Aldermen Jill Organ and Jason Wilke
If this referendum is to move forward supporters must come up with a direct-petition with 3,656 signatures.
I'm in favor of photo ID's for voters, especially in Wisconsin where one can register and vote on the same day. The argument against them is that we'd be disenfranchising certain people. While that position sounds good, I see no evidence of it at all. While working in retail for around 20 years, I've never once had someone tell them they didn't have a photo ID. And if those who make this claim find some people without an ID, do them a favor and take them to get one. Problem solved.

Why apologize
"We acknowledge now with President Obama that we have made mistakes in the United States"
I have to agree with Hillary Clinton here. It sure does seem like we've made mistakes with President Obama.

It's just a piece of paper
but it seems to be elusive and important.
The President's birth certificate is all these people are asking about. The problem won't go away until it is provided or hell freezes over.
Not taking any bets.

Hurling Club?
From Page 20 of this month's Milwaukee Magazine "Milwaukee boasts the nation's largest hurling club."I don't think the article is about Drinking Right, but it could be at some point. It's tonight at Papa's at 77th & Burleigh, starts at 7pm, ends whenever and I'm betting it won't be until after the all-star game.

Global Whating?
Here's another reason to not like the global warming hysteria. Former Vice President Al Gore declared that the Congressional climate bill will help bring about “global governance.”
I call hogwash on global warming.

It's still gonna cost us
The MJS has an article today about the amount of state aid schools are going to lose with the new budget. I've got a couple of thoughts about it.
Are new garbage bins more important than education?
Bottom line is that the Democrats have bragged about no tax increases, someone is going to have to make up the shortfalls in state aid. That someone is going to be property owners in the form of increased taxes.

No Quarter for Fred
Friend and all around good guy Fred Dooley had a Tweet noticed by local the MJS's Dan Bice who is the "Journal Sentinel's political watchdog columnist". Fred fessed up to making an error in judgment on a RT (retweeting) someone else and his reputation is still in tact.
Mr Bice will have lots to write about if he starts including blogs and tweets in his watchdog columns. The blogs on the right have been a bit tough on No Quarter about it's recent coverage of the cop & journalist. Bits and pieces of coverage is the concern. Sorta like a Tweet.

Palin goes into Campaign Mode
I have to admit that before I decided to run for State Assembly, the timing of the run was a concern of mine. Would announcing the run 500 days before the election be too early and would I run out of steam in the 18 months.
Scott Walker led the way, others have joined in and now it looks like Gov Sarah Palin of Alaska is leaving her job to possibly start a run for President. Nothing like a 3 1/2 year campaign. I guess everyone is taking their cue from the current President, who started running for his office shortly after winning his position as Senator from Illinois.
Run On Sarah.

Government needs a Staycation
From the Wall Street Journal
Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That's a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.Now don't bet me wrong as I'm not against business perquisites, in fact I believe they're OK. But there should be some restraint on the governments part. I mean really is Gwen Moore's "Poop to Power" message that inspiring?
