Taking my Toy (train) and going home
Sometimes things the right things happen for the wrong reasons. Milwaukee area Democrats are a bit ticked at the Gov for not giving them the tax increase they want. Their reaction is to deny the Gov a place to play with his train. Read more here and here.

Goose & Gander Senators
State Senator Jim Sullivan, a Democrat, did not vote for the State Budget because
I wonder why the budget is not in the best interest of the 5th Senate District represented by a Democrat, yet it is in the best interest of Tosa voters represented by Democrats in the 4th Senate District (Sen Taylor) and 12th Assembly District (Rep Fred Kessler)?
H/T Jason from Tosa Republicans got me thinking.
I do not believe this budget is in the best interest of the 5th Senate DistrictThe 5th Senate District includes most of Wauwatosa, but a couple of Tosa wards are not included in that district but the 4th District represented by Lena Taylor. As a side note, those 2 wards are in the 12th Assembly District, which I hope to represent beginning in 2010.

Garden Party - Tosa Style

I had the chance to go the Annual Tosa Republican Party Garden Party Wednesday evening and it was interesting.
I'm new to this whole thing and I must admit that I'm a bit uncomfortable at events like this. The major reason is that I'm more interested in others rather than myself. I mean Scott Walker reps were there; Dan Sebring, who's running for US Congress; Dave Westlake, US Senate candidate; Leah Vukmir, who's running for State Senate; Richard Graber, former Ambassador to the Czech Republic; Jill Didier, mayor of Wauwatosa; Tosa aldermen, and lots more politically involved people.
Me, I'm a neophyte and also a candidate for State Assembly. I'm was not in awe as very few people have that effect on me. I was interested in the workings of the group. They were very freindly and kind to me, which I appreciated. I had a few offers of help which I will take people up on, I wrote those names down.
I guess I'm going to have to be more assertive and that will come as my campaign progresses. For those interested, things are going well and I should have my website up and running on July 1st.
I'm also interested in growing the conservative movement as I do believe we have the solutions to what is happening today. Less government is just better, especially for our pocketbooks.

ABC Boycott
Got to thinking about the proposed ABC Boycott over their overzealous support of the POTUS health care and lack of balanced reporting. Maybe they can resurrect "Pushing Daisies" and their news department will come back to life.

I like the show and that cute little Olive.

Karma.
No one should make their living dishing dirt on other people, especially someone who's arrogant and displays very little if any scruples.
I did find the video of this jerk calling on God to be truly hilarious. I keep thinking MIRROR.

No Mercy
A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday night in the death of Roland Haefner, 77, according to Anne E. Schwartz, a spokeswoman with the Milwaukee Police Department.I happened to drive by the area less than an hour after the murder. Silver Spring was blocked off for hours afterwards. I hope the person arrested gets the maximum. By all accounts Mr. Haefner was what we should all try to be.
Haefner was shot and killed Wednesday in an armed robbery at his business, Silver Spring Variety Store, at 8305 W. Silver Spring Drive.

Right, Left or Privilege
I wonder if what Milwaukee School Board member Larry Miller said is correct.
"Shame on you, Senator Carpenter. This is an outrage. Our job is to support our students, and in-state tuition and driver's licenses are fundamental rights."Do illegal aliens have the same fundamental rights as legal citizens of a state. Concerning the driver's license aspect, you'd have thought that mandatory insurance would have been a part of the package.

It's Senator Boxer to you
Barbara Boxer asks Brigadier General Michael Walsh if he "Could you do me a favor? Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am? It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."
There are a couple of other adjectives that might come to mind when thinking of Barbara Boxer and even though she probably worked hard to get those I'm sure she'd prefer not to be called them.

Now a Candidate

Today I filed my papers to become a candidate for the Wisconsin Assembly - 12th District. This is the seat currently held by Rep. Fred Kessler.
I'm running on who I am - a conservative.
I think the state government should lower taxes. How? Well first by looking for duplicate services and eliminating them. Those who receive money should be held to the highest standards and if they don't meet those standards, they should stop getting the funds.
This budget and previous one's have been put together behind closed doors. Our legislators need to be held accountable, especially when deciding on how to administer money. No budget should be voted on until the citizens of the state have a say in it. We need a daylight budget process.
I also believe that education is priority. The state should encourage the best in schools, no matter if it is a public, private, charter, choice, virtual school or home schooling. What matters is the education received.
In this economy and really at all times, job creation is important. Private industry provides the best avenue for job growth and entrepreneurship. The state should not stand in the way. Less government allows for more freedom to grow in all areas of life including the business climate.
I'll have more on my website within a couple of weeks.

Kohl tells a joke
Sen Herb Kohl calls the Republicans the party of NO. This from someone who's been a backbencher in the Senate his entire career. Needed the morning pick giggle after watching the state Dems vote no on some 120 amendments during the budget hearing.

You Choose Rep Kessler
State Rep Fred Kessler seems very proud of the following amendment to the state budget.
Authors: Rep. Kessler
School Choice Enrollment Cap
This amendment caps school choice enrollment at 19,500 students for each year for the
next two years. This cap will sunset at the end of the biennium.
I'd like to see another amendment proposed - Rep Kessler you choose which of the 3,000 students don't get into the Milwaukee Choice Program. You sir are wrong in this course of action.

D-Day thanks
It's always so humbling to remember what our brave men and women have done to protect our freedom. The question that quickly follows but which is usually unspoken is should we do less at this moment in time. President Ronald Reagan who is one of our best communicator's says it best.
With a thankful heart I say thank you.

Earmarks or Earwax
With the Democratic Party of Wisconsin convention coming up on June 12-13, I went to their website to check out the agenda. Here's something I found interesting.
This from "2008 DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF WISCONSIN RESOLUTIONS"
Approved by Convention June 14, 2008
43 08-JHD-23 Earmarked Funds (66 Words)
44
45 WHEREAS, earmarked projects exceed funding requested by government agencies and added over $18 billion
46 to the 2008 Federal budget;
47
48 WHEREAS, earmarked projects result in needless spending and leave less money available for real needs;
49 and
50
51 WHEREAS, earmarked funds are often tied to campaign contributions from the recipients to the legislative
52 sponsors;
53
54 THEREFORE, RESOLVED, the DPW supports legislation at State and Federal levels to eliminate earmarking
55 projects.
That is unless you control the state legislature and some of your legislators need an extra push for their re-election.

More Colon-no-sense
So now Rep Colon wants to stop Milwaukee students from choosing what school they can attend by dropping the Open Enrollment for Milwaukee schools only. He claims the best schools in the state and the country are in Milwaukee.
He obviously lives in an alternaworld. According to him, choice schools take $40 million out of Milwaukee schools and OE takes an additional $20 million. He's very sincere, but wrong.
By the way the, his amendment was defeated 1 with Reps Colon & Grigsby (I think - audio was low) and Sen Taylor voting in favor.

Colon-acht-o-me
Listening to Pedro Colon talk about why illegal immigrants need a drivers card. He claims it will make roads safer. How's that? Do the immigrants need to pass a test? Will they have to buy insurance?
Now Rep Pocan is assimilating homosexuality with illegal immigrants. Nice pirouette.
