Moore BS

My Congresswoman Gwen Moore issued a statement today about passing the budget. Miss Moore mentions former President Bush three times in her short nonsense press release.

Congresswoman, you as a member of Congress hold all the purse strings. You are partially responsible for the current state of our economy. Stop blaming the former President and "man up."

I hear he views this before every encounter with the media.

Choices

Not so tough choice, State Senators blabber on WiEye over President. Now it's time to give the Assembly a chance while working on web sites and basketball stuff.

Repub Net Buddies

Not the I particularly like to pick on the Republicans, but

I think they could do a better job of coordinating and linking to one another on their websites. I was on the Republican Party of Wisconsin site and wanted to go to the Tosa Republican site. No way to get there from what I could tell. When I do hit the Tosa site I see that the West Allis Repubs have created a web site. You'd never no from the state site.

Now they do have do County links up and running and supposed "congressional district" links, but I live in the 4th and there's nada.

At the convention this weekend how about taking the time to building each other up and supporting one another by the simple task of linking to each others web sites. And maybe set up the state site so that others can add their events to the calendar.

Example
Thirsty Thursdays
Date: Thursday, May 7th, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Location: Habanero’s Mexican Kitchen, 869 N. Mayfair Rd., Wauwatosa, http://habanerosmilwaukee.com
Guest Speaker: 6th District Alderman, Brian Ewerdt.

No mention on state site.

The Dems - no links at all.

Spector Rector

I have a bit of a problem with candidates switching parties after they've won an election with the support of another party. This move is strictly one that Sen Spector is making for his own good. It will be interesting to see how his voting record will change with the change of parties.

Jordan sees new war if US does not act quickly

From Yahoo News,
Jordan's king urged President Barack Obama Sunday to take a more forceful role in the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, warning of a new Mideast war if there is no significant progress in the next 18 months.
If you read between the lines, he's looking for help so the Arabs don't get their butts handed to them again by Israel.

Good Faith Move

If Lt. Gov. Barb Lawton wanted to stand apart from the "tax & spend" crowd, she could tell the state democrats that to help keep the budget in line, she respectfully declines the addition of staff at this tough economic time.

Budget Observation

Watching WisEye tonight they had a reply of some of the budget hearings. Rep Pocan's argument for increasing the staff of Lt Gov Lawton is that she has a smaller staff than Senate Democrats. What a backwards way to look at it. Maybe the Senate staffs should be cut to the Lt Gov level rather than raising hers.

Effective Tea Parties

I find it interesting that the left of center types are still lecturing about the tea parties and letting us know how bad, stupid, ineffective and unpatriotic they were. Yet the right of center has moved on and is looking forward.

That in and of itself should tell us how they impacted current politics.

Torturing Helps

Today on Fox News Sunday I heard Sen McCaskill from Missouri say that the supposed torturing of Al-Qaeda was a great tool for them in getting new recruits.

If getting tortured is such a great tool for recruitment I wonder how the promise of getting killed by the US does.

The Prune

Pruning seems to be an essential part of life. It happens naturally in nature and sometimes we help the process. As I mentioned on my other blog a few days ago pruning's been on my mind lately.

Lately there seems to be glut of media about the demise of Christianity and the conservative movement and therefore the futility of both. The cover of Newsmax Magazine stats "The Jesus Question: Will he ever return?" and Newsweek's cover tells us about "The Decline and Fall of Christian America." Polls also doom the Christian faith.

I have the answer for Newsmax. YES. Jesus will return at the fullness of the Gentiles. The key is that "fullness" is not measured in time, but is a quantity.

For the polls and Newsweek I also have an answer. Pruning. I believe we are in a time of honesty. It's not the cool thing to be a Christian or a conservative. So the "in name only" types are fleeing the friendly confines of church and the conservative movement.

But at the same time, the individual faith of the true believers is strengthening and as a result so is the Church and the conservative movement. As they both revert to the basics, their foundations will firm up and as a result both will flourish with a revival. These rejuvenated organizations will again lead the nation and the world.

The exciting thing is that with the quickness the world moves today the future is closer than anyone may think.

Georgetown Says It Covered Over Name of Jesus to Comply With White House Request

There are 2 things that bother me about this. The White House requesting this and Georgetown saying yes.

Here's one Doyle Missed - Not Milwaukee

It will soon cost you to sell your own car.Milwaukee's Common Council approved a citywide ordinance Tuesday that would require a $40 permit to sell any vehicle on public property. This includes any car with a "for sale" sign parked on Milwaukee streets.Any car for sale that does not display a permit can be towed.

Pick a Law any Law

Thanks to the paper edition of the MJS and Newsmax we learn that
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Friday that as a justice she considers foreign laws – not just U.S. laws and its Constitution - in forming her legal opinions.
She doesn't see what the problem is. Not being a lawyer I do. WE LIVE IN THE USA !!!!!!

We have a constitution and a bill of rights Justice Ginsburg, how about using that. End of discussion.

Happy Easter

Today is the day many celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and His and our victory over death. As Christians, we actually live this celebration every day of our lives.

I hope you have a very blessed day and take some time to truly treasure this event.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie

we're are morons.

From the Sun "BARACK Obama liked a restaurant’s pizzas so much he has flown the chef 850 miles to make some at the White House."

Excellent way to lead by example.

Pirates - One at a Time

I find it interesting that on more than one occasion President Obama has stated if not bragged on his ability to "multi-task." Yet for the second straight day he's been silent on the issue of the pirates and the American hostage.

Jury Duty

John Barrett has been kind enough to send me an Official Court Business Jury Summons.

I've got 10 days to full out a questionnaire either on line or via snail mail. Since there is no free juror parking I got a bus pass. There is free wi-fi, now I'll need a laptop computer (probably not free).

Here's some questions asked of me.
Citizen?
Understand English?
Race?
Felon?

Mr. Barrett the John must like me as this is the third time in my life that I've been invited down to courthouse to participate in our justice system. First time they were guilty. Second time not chosen. This time, who knows. Looking forward to this honor.

ACLU wants to ban schools

The Wheeler Report gives us this press release from the ACLU of Wisconsin, "ACLU of Wisconsin Calls on Legislators to begin Exit Strategy for failed School Voucher Experiment."

The fight is on and I for one am ready to stand up for the students in Wisconsin and in this particular case Milwaukee. This includes public, private, choice (voucher), charter and virtual schools.

Just an example of the absurdity of the thinking of the ACLU is this from the press release
While recent reports from the School Choice Demonstration Project are not conclusive, “These reports confirm that more than 120, mostly small, Milwaukee schools that taxpayers support with tuition vouchers are performing at or below the levels achieved by comparable students attending Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).”
So let me understand this. In a report which says to not draw conclusions as the quote above, the ACLU says that even though the schools are doing the same, we should close one set of schools and not the other.

These guys are embarrassing.

Election on Tuesday

I'd again like to encourage all Wisconsin readers to vote on Tuesday, April 7.

In particular I'd like you to vote for Rose Fernandez for State Superintendent of Department of Public Instruction. If you're interested in shaking up the system this would be the vote to do it with.

Missile Fizzle

North Korea's rocket plops into Pacific Ocean. President Obama's response to the whole fiasco is
"North Korea broke the rules, once again, by testing a rocket that could be used for long-range missiles. It creates instability in their region, around the world. This provocation underscores the need for action, not just this afternoon in the U.N. Security Council, but in our determination to prevent the spread of these weapons."
It seems that the President's southern rocket has also misfired. The need for action with this administration is talk.

Will Doyle play the Lottery?

From the Fond Du Lac Reporter.

During an 11-year period ending on June 30, 2008, a whopping $38,349,659 in lotto prizes went unclaimed, according to the Wisconsin Lottery.

That figure — which doesn't include unclaimed scratch-off winnings — will increase by roughly $3 million a year, based on recent trends.

Prizes for lotto games must be redeemed within 180 days. All unclaimed winnings are credited to the lottery's property tax relief fund.

It would be interesting to see if this money has gone to tax relief or if it's been used for something else.

Palm Sunday - Prophecy Fulfilled

Palm Sunday is also called the Triumphal Entry. It was predicted by the prophet Daniel about 600 years before the event occurred, in Daniel 9:25 "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the King shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times."

The commandment to restore & build Jerusalem was issued by Artaxerxes, March 14, 445 B.C. (Neh 2:5-8, 17, 18).

The 69 weeks are mentioned above (62+7) are weeks of years or groups of 7 years. The 69 weeks are actually 483 years. These years are 360 days each. The 69 weeks are 173,880 days.

Palm Sunday is the day that Jesus presented Himself as the Messiah the King fulfilling Zechariah 9:9 "
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass". By reading the whole Palm Sunday account you find that Jesus set the whole thing up.

The first Palm Sunday happened on April 6, 32 A.D. Exactly 173,880 from March 14, 445 B.C.

As CS Lewis said, Jesus is a Lunatic, Liar or Lord. Everyone needs to make their choice.

Is Congress Being Too Tough on Nominees' Taxes?

Time magazine has the nerve to ask this. Here's a couple of quotes.
At what point does congressional due diligence become onerous and unreasonable flyspecking?
In Sebelius' case, the discrepancies were, by all appearances, relatively minor ones, centered mostly on a failure to produce the proper documentation for charitable contributions and business expenses.
They do come up with the right answer though.
Of course, there may be a solution here for everyone to consider. If so many smart and talented officials are getting tripped up over their tax returns, perhaps it is time for Washington to make the tax code simpler for everyone.

Do It Already

I had the chance to go out tonight to a concert at the cafe that my church sponsors, Holy Grounds Cafe. The crowd was nice, but the place wasn't filled.

Something I've noticed is that people do enjoy complaining about nothing to do, what can we do, or just doing nothing and whining.

It's time to get off the pot and just get involved. This concerns politics, your child's school, or anything you believe in.

Go vote this coming Tuesday. Share your views with others, engage them in civil banter. Tonight I talked to someone who wasn't aware of who Rose Fernandez is. Rose got an additional vote today, more will come this weekend.

Don't forget the TEA parties being held April 15th. Show up. If for no other reason than to be involved in the process.

Get involved. It's your God given right, don't abuse it.

MIA or History

Milwaukee Alderman, Tony Zielinski was missing from todays Milwaukee Common Council Licensing committee. He was highlighted in a MJS article on March 22nd about a battle with a local business and their attempt to get a liquor license. Now I missed the beginning of the rerun of the meeting on the City Channel, 25 on Warner Cable so I don't know if Ald. Dudzik is a permanent member or was just sitting in. Either way it's a bit interesting.

UPDATE
Ald Zielinski was on vacation so there is no personal change on the committee. Thanks to Ald Bohl, committee chairman, for a quick reply.
