Hoops & Growth

The High School Basketball season has started and my Grandson, Dominic, is playing for Eastbrook Academy this year. Eastbrook is a newer high school and the team has 7 players, all freshmen and sophomores. It will be interesting to see the growth of these fine young men (there's also a girls team), as they get ready to join the Indian Trails Conference next year.

As a bit of a rebel, I'd like to see the WIAA adopt a more open stance in regards to sports. Last year Eastbrook invited home school kids to play on the team, but not this year. The WIAA doesn't recognize the needs of homeschoolers and those that attend small private high schools. This is the first year that they made a rule to allow those attending charter schools to participate in sports at their "home" school when their school isn't large enough to field a team.

I guess if it's for the kids, let them all play.
